latinized

Given Roman form

Latinized describes something that has been adapted to Latin form or character.

Names are latinized when given Latin endings or spelling: Carolus for Charles, Linnaeus for Linné.

Languages are latinized when written in the Latin alphabet rather than their native script: latinized Chinese.

The term also applies to practices or styles adapted to Roman Catholic or ancient Roman conventions.
