kiwis

Green inside, brown outside

Kiwis is the plural of kiwi, which names three different things.

The kiwi is a flightless bird native to New Zealand—nocturnal, long-beaked, and roughly the size of a chicken.

From the bird comes Kiwi as informal slang for a New Zealander.

The kiwi fruit (or kiwifruit) is a fuzzy brown oval with bright green flesh, originally from China but cultivated extensively in New Zealand: I sliced some kiwis for the fruit salad.
