kinescope
Early television recording
A kinescope is a cathode-ray tube in a television set—the screen that displays the picture.
The term also refers to a recording made by filming a television broadcast directly off such a screen, the standard method of preserving live TV before videotape: The only surviving copy is a kinescope from the original 1953 broadcast.
Now historical, as the technology is obsolete.
