genever

Holland's botanical liquor

Genever is a Dutch and Belgian juniper-flavored spirit, the ancestor of modern gin.

Unlike London dry gin, genever has a maltier, more full-bodied flavor from its grain-based distillate.

It comes in two main styles: oude (old-style, richer) and jonge (young-style, lighter).

A proper Dutch bar stocks several genevers.
