intentional community
Values-based neighborhood
An intentional community is a group of people who choose to live together or near each other around shared values, goals, or lifestyle—as opposed to the accident of proximity that defines most neighborhoods.
The term covers communes, cohousing projects, ecovillages, and religious communities.
Members typically share resources, responsibilities, or decision-making: They raised their kids in an intentional community outside Portland.
