cob house
Clay-straw construction
A cob house is a building made from cob—a mixture of clay, sand, straw, and water formed into thick walls without wooden framing.
The technique is ancient and found worldwide, valued for its thermal mass and use of local materials.
Cob houses have curved, organic shapes since the material is sculpted by hand rather than assembled from standardized parts.
