photodiode
Optical current generator
A photodiode is a semiconductor device that converts light into electrical current.
When photons strike the diode, they generate a flow of electrons proportional to light intensity.
Photodiodes appear in light sensors, solar cells, optical communications, and camera systems: The photodiode detects the laser beam and triggers the alarm.
