One-piece leg covering
Pantyhose are sheer nylon stockings fused to panties, worn as a single garment covering the legs and waist.
They emerged in the 1960s alongside miniskirts and largely replaced garter-held stockings.
The word is usually plural: She bought three pairs of pantyhose.
British English prefers tights.
