hoser

Northern bumpkin insult

Hoser is Canadian slang for a foolish or uncouth person, especially a stereotypical working-class Canadian.

The term gained wide recognition through the characters Bob and Doug McKenzie on SCTV: Take off, you hoser.

It remains mildly insulting but often affectionate, evoking hockey culture and beer-drinking stereotypes.
