heterozygote
Two different alleles
A heterozygote is an organism with two different versions of a gene at a particular location on its chromosomes—one inherited from each parent.
The term contrasts with homozygote, where both versions are identical.
In genetics, heterozygotes often express only the dominant trait while carrying the recessive one: Carriers of sickle cell trait are heterozygotes.
