heterograft
Cross-species transplant material
A heterograft is tissue or an organ transplanted from one species to another—a pig heart valve into a human, for instance.
The term contrasts with homograft (same species) and autograft (same individual).
Also called xenograft.
The surgeon used a heterograft to replace the damaged valve.
