autotransplant
Own-tissue surgical relocation
An autotransplant is tissue or an organ surgically removed from one part of a person's body and grafted onto another part of the same person.
Skin grafts for burn victims are common autotransplants.
The procedure avoids immune rejection since the tissue comes from the patient's own body.
Also called an autograft.
The verb autotransplant describes performing this procedure.
