corneal transplant
Vision-restoring eye surgery
A corneal transplant is a surgical procedure in which a damaged or diseased cornea—the clear front surface of the eye—is replaced with healthy donor tissue.
The operation restores vision impaired by scarring, infection, or degenerative conditions: She regained her sight after a corneal transplant.
Also called a corneal graft or keratoplasty.
