hardpoint

External equipment mount

A hardpoint is a reinforced mounting location on a vehicle, aircraft, or vessel designed to attach external equipment—especially weapons.

Fighter jets have hardpoints under their wings for missiles, bombs, or fuel tanks.

The term extends to video games and science fiction, where spacecraft or mechs carry weapons on designated hardpoints.

In military contexts, a hardpoint may also be a fortified defensive position.
