A weapons bay is a compartment in a military aircraft designed to carry bombs, missiles, or other ordnance internally rather than on external pylons.
Internal bays reduce aerodynamic drag and radar signature: The stealth bomber's weapons bay doors opened seconds before release.
Bombers and fighter aircraft may have single or multiple bays sized for different payloads.
