hadrons

Quarks bound together

Hadrons are subatomic particles made up of quarks held together by the strong nuclear force.

The two most familiar hadrons are protons and neutrons, which combine to form atomic nuclei.

Hadrons are divided into two categories: baryons, composed of three quarks, and mesons, composed of a quark and an antiquark.

The Large Hadron Collider, the world's most powerful particle accelerator, takes its name from these particles.
