green waste
Leaves and clippings
Green waste is organic material from yards and gardens—grass clippings, leaves, branches, weeds, and other plant debris.
Most municipalities collect green waste separately from regular trash for composting or mulching: Put the hedge trimmings in the green waste bin.
The term distinguishes compostable vegetation from food scraps and other organic matter.
