bagasse
Crushed stalk remnants
Bagasse is the dry, fibrous residue left after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract their juice.
This pulpy material finds use as fuel for sugar mills, raw material for paper and fiberboard, and increasingly as feedstock for biofuels.
The factory burns bagasse to power its operations.
