granting

Bestowing upon another

Granting is used as a conjunction to acknowledge a point while simultaneously limiting its force or introducing a contrast.

If you say granting that the weather was bad, we still should have tried, you concede the weather but don't let it excuse inaction.

It functions much like "even if" or "although," allowing a speaker to appear fair-minded before pivoting to their main argument.
