generality
Lacking specific details
Generality is the quality of being general rather than specific.
A statement of great generality applies broadly: The generality that "people want to be happy" tells us little about any particular person.
In the plural, generalities are vague or sweeping statements that avoid specifics: He spoke only in generalities.
The generality can also mean the majority: the generality of cases.
