freeze-dried
Moisture removed cold
Freeze-dried describes food or other material preserved by rapid freezing followed by vacuum drying, which removes moisture while retaining structure and nutrients.
Coffee, fruit, and camping meals are commonly freeze-dried.
The process allows long storage without refrigeration: freeze-dried strawberries, freeze-dried ice cream from the space museum gift shop.
