spacewalk
Tethered astronaut's stroll
A spacewalk is an activity in which an astronaut exits a spacecraft to work in the vacuum of space, typically while tethered to the vessel.
The technical term is extravehicular activity, or EVA.
Spacewalks allow astronauts to make repairs, install equipment, or conduct experiments that cannot be done from inside.
The astronauts completed a six-hour spacewalk to replace a faulty solar panel.
As a verb, to spacewalk is to perform such an activity.
