four-in-hand

Classic cravat style

A four-in-hand is a carriage drawn by four horses driven by a single person, or the team of horses itself.

The term extends to a style of necktie knot—the simple, slightly asymmetrical knot most men use daily: He tied his tie in a four-in-hand.

The knot's name supposedly derives from coachmen who used it because it could be tied one-handed.
