footbrake

Car's stopping lever

A footbrake is a brake operated by foot pressure rather than by hand.

The term most commonly refers to the main brake pedal in a vehicle, as distinct from the handbrake or parking brake: She slammed her foot on the footbrake.

On bicycles, a footbrake is a coaster brake activated by pedaling backward.
