finis

Story's last word

Finis marks the end of something, particularly a book or performance.

The word is Latin for "end" and appears occasionally in English texts as a formal or literary flourish: And so our story reaches its finis.

It's the source of finish and final, though finis itself sounds deliberately old-fashioned or affected.
