favicons
Tiny website icons
Favicons are the small icons displayed in browser tabs, bookmarks, and address bars to identify websites.
The term combines "favorite" and "icon," from the original use in browser bookmark lists.
A favicon helps users quickly locate tabs among many open windows: The site's favicon is a tiny blue bird.
Most are 16×16 or 32×32 pixels.
