splash pages
Comic book spreads
A splash page is a full-page illustration in a comic book, typically used for dramatic effect at key moments in the narrative.
In web design, a splash page is an introductory screen that appears before the main content—often featuring a logo, animation, or age verification.
Web splash pages have fallen out of favor as obstacles to user experience: Skip the splash page and get users to your content.
