dragger
Net-pulling boat
A dragger is a fishing vessel that tows nets along the ocean floor to catch bottom-dwelling fish like cod, flounder, and shrimp.
The term is common in New England fishing communities: The draggers headed out before dawn.
More generally, dragger can mean anyone or anything that drags—a person who moves slowly or holds others back, or equipment designed to pull something along a surface.
