downforce
Traction from air
Downforce is the aerodynamic pressure that pushes a vehicle toward the ground, increasing tire grip at high speeds.
Racing cars generate downforce through wings, spoilers, and body shape, allowing faster cornering: The new front wing produces more downforce.
The tradeoff is increased drag, which reduces top speed on straightaways.
