double play

Two outs, quick

A double play in baseball is a defensive play that records two outs on a single action.

The most common is the ground ball to shortstop, thrown to second base for the force out, then relayed to first to retire the batter: The infielders turned a double play to end the inning.

Any sequence that gets two outs qualifies.
