robing

Putting on vestments

Robing is the act of putting on a robe, particularly the formal garments worn by judges, clergy, or academics for ceremonial occasions.

A robing room is where officials dress in their official attire before proceedings.

The word can also refer more generally to dressing someone in any elaborate or formal clothing: The attendants were busy robing the bride in her gown.
