dioptres

Optical power units

Dioptres is the British spelling of diopters, a unit measuring the optical power of a lens or curved mirror.

One dioptre equals the reciprocal of the focal length in meters.

Eyeglass prescriptions use dioptres to specify correction strength: My glasses are minus three dioptres.

Higher values indicate stronger corrective power.
