deoxyhemoglobin
Blood protein sans oxygen
Deoxyhemoglobin is hemoglobin that has released its oxygen.
Blood rich in deoxyhemoglobin flows through veins back to the lungs, where it picks up oxygen again.
The molecule's color gives venous blood its darker, bluish-red appearance compared to the bright red of oxygenated arterial blood.
