dentils
Small rectangular blocks
Dentils are small rectangular blocks arranged in a row, used as architectural ornamentation beneath a cornice.
The pattern resembles a row of teeth—hence the name.
Dentils appear frequently in classical and neoclassical buildings: The courthouse featured elaborate dentils along the roofline.
