demonym

Resident's place-based name

A demonym is a word for people from a particular place—a country, city, or region.

Tokyoite, Parisian, New Zealander, and Californian are demonyms.

English forms them inconsistently: some add -ian, others -er, -ite, -ese, or -ish, and a few are irregular: Dutch for the Netherlands, Kiwi for New Zealand.
