gentile
Outside the covenant
A gentile is someone who is not Jewish.
The term comes from Jewish perspective and appears frequently in religious contexts: The Torah has different rules for Jews and gentiles.
In Mormon usage, a gentile is anyone not belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—including Jews.
The word can function as an adjective: gentile customs, gentile nations.
