aborigine
First to arrive
An aborigine is an original or indigenous inhabitant of a region, as distinguished from colonizers or later arrivals.
The word applies broadly to any native population: The aborigines of Taiwan have distinct languages and customs.
In scientific contexts, it describes species native to a particular area.
The term has become less common in favor of "indigenous people" or specific group names, as some consider it dated or reductive. (Capitalized Aborigine specifically refers to indigenous Australians.)
