defibs
Cardiac shock devices
Defibs is informal shorthand for defibrillators, the medical devices that deliver electric shocks to restore normal heart rhythm during cardiac arrest.
The term appears most often in medical settings and emergency contexts where speed matters: Grab the defibs from the crash cart.
Public-access defibs, the automated external defibrillators (AEDs) mounted in airports, gyms, and offices, have made the word increasingly familiar outside hospitals.
