defibrillated
Heart rhythm restored
Defibrillated describes having received an electric shock to the heart, typically to restore normal rhythm during cardiac arrest.
A defibrillator delivers this jolt through paddles or pads placed on the chest, interrupting chaotic electrical activity so the heart can reset itself.
The paramedics defibrillated him twice before getting a pulse.
The procedure is dramatic in movies but routine in emergency medicine, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) now make it possible for bystanders to defibrillate someone before professionals arrive.
