resuscitate
Bring back life
Resuscitate means to revive someone who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped—to bring them back from the brink of death: Paramedics resuscitated the drowning victim.
The word extends to reviving anything that has failed or gone dormant: attempts to resuscitate the stalled negotiations, resuscitating a dying brand.
The noun is resuscitation, as in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
