microemulsion
Clear oil-water mixture
A microemulsion is a stable, clear mixture of oil, water, and surfactant that forms spontaneously without the mechanical agitation required for ordinary emulsions.
Unlike regular emulsions, which eventually separate, microemulsions are thermodynamically stable—the droplets are so small (nanometer scale) that they remain permanently dispersed.
Used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and enhanced oil recovery: The drug was delivered via microemulsion for better absorption.
