Swept granite disc

A curling stone is a heavy, polished granite disc with a handle on top, slid across ice toward a target in the sport of curling.

Players release the stone with a spin while teammates sweep the ice ahead to control its speed and direction.

Also called a rock: She threw the stone right into the house.
