crusaders
Medieval religious soldiers
Crusaders are people engaged in a vigorous campaign for a cause.
The original Crusaders were medieval Christian soldiers who fought to recapture the Holy Land from Muslims, but modern usage is usually figurative: crusaders for civil rights, anti-corruption crusaders.
The term implies passionate, sometimes zealous commitment to a mission.
