A coonhound is a breed of American hunting dog developed to track and tree raccoons.
These hounds have exceptional scenting ability and a distinctive baying voice that carries through woods at night.
Major varieties include the Black and Tan, Redbone, Bluetick, and Treeing Walker.
The coonhound treed three raccoons before midnight.
Though bred for raccoon hunting, coonhounds also track larger game like bear and mountain lion.
