congresswoman
Elected House member
A congresswoman is a female member of a congress, especially the United States Congress.
The term applies to members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, though senators are more often called senators: The congresswoman from California introduced the bill.
The gender-neutral representative or congressperson now appears in formal contexts.
