suppose

Take as given

Suppose means to assume something for the sake of argument or consideration: Suppose we leave early—will that help?

It also means to believe or think, often with less than full certainty: I suppose you're right.

I don't suppose you have change for a twenty? uses polite doubt.

To be supposed to do something is to be expected or required to: You're supposed to call when you arrive.

In the negative, it indicates prohibition: You're not supposed to park here.
