deep-freeze

Extreme frozen preservation

Deep-freeze refers to a state of very low temperature used for long-term preservation, or the appliance that maintains such cold.

As a verb, to deep-freeze is to store something at freezing temperatures: We deep-freeze vegetables from the garden.

Figuratively, to deep-freeze something is to suspend it indefinitely: Contract negotiations have been deep-frozen until next quarter.
