A chupacabra is a creature from Latin American folklore said to attack livestock—especially goats—and drain their blood.
The name translates from Spanish as "goat-sucker." Reports emerged from Puerto Rico in the 1990s and spread throughout the Americas.
The chupacabra occupies the same cultural space as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster: a cryptid that believers insist is real despite lack of scientific evidence.
They blamed the dead chickens on a chupacabra.
