cholo
Southwest urban identity
Cholo is a term for a Mexican American man, particularly one associated with a distinctive urban style—baggy khakis, flannel shirts, shaved head, tattoos.
The word carries different weight depending on who's using it: among Chicanos it can signal cultural pride or neighborhood identity, while outsiders using it often intend or convey disrespect.
The female equivalent is chola.
He dressed cholo style in high school.
