La Raza
Hispanic cultural solidarity
La Raza is Spanish for "the race" or "the people," used to express collective identity among people of Latin American—especially Mexican—descent.
The term emphasizes shared cultural heritage rather than biological race: La Raza unida jamás será vencida (the people united will never be defeated).
In the United States, La Raza appears in the names of civil rights organizations and cultural movements advocating for Hispanic interests.
Critics sometimes misread the term as promoting racial supremacy, but it functions more like "the folk" or "our people"—an assertion of cultural solidarity.
